Chiropractic has become increasingly popular over the years, with millions of people seeking treatment from chiropractors every year. However, many people are often concerned about the cost of chiropractic care and whether it is covered by their health insurance. Since our clinic doesn’t take health insurance and is cash-based, this is where Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), and Care Credit come in. In this blog, we will explore whether chiropractic clinics accept these forms of payment.

Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)
An HSA is a tax-advantaged savings account that allows individuals to save money for medical expenses, including chiropractic care. It is available to individuals who have a high-deductible health plan (HDHP). Contributions to an HSA are tax-deductible, and the funds in the account grow tax-free. HSAs can be used to pay for a variety of medical expenses, including chiropractic care.
The good news is that, like us, most chiropractic clinics do accept HSAs. However, it is important to check with your specific chiropractor to confirm. In general, chiropractic care is considered a qualified medical expense for HSAs, so you should be able to use your HSA funds to pay for your chiropractic visits. A lot of our patients have this in a version of a debit card to pay for our services.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
An FSA is another tax-advantaged savings account that can be used to pay for medical expenses. However, unlike HSAs, FSAs are not tied to a high-deductible health plan. Instead, they are offered as a benefit by many employers. Like HSAs, contributions to FSAs are tax-deductible, and the funds in the account grow tax-free.
Chiropractic care is generally an eligible expense under FSAs. However, it is important to check with your employer’s FSA administrator to confirm that your chiropractic visits are covered. Some FSAs may have specific rules or limitations on chiropractic care, so it is important to understand these before using your FSA funds to pay for your visits. You just have to stay in clear communication between your chiropractic clinic and the FSA administrator.
Care Credit
Care Credit is a healthcare credit card that can be used to pay for a variety of medical expenses, including chiropractic care. It offers flexible payment options and low interest rates, making it a popular choice for many people who need to pay for healthcare expenses over time. The good news is that most chiropractic clinics do accept Care Credit.
However, it is important to check with your specific chiropractor to confirm. Some chiropractors may have specific rules or limitations on using Care Credit to pay for chiropractic care, so it is important to understand these before using your Care Credit card.
In the future, we believe that many chiropractic clinics will be headed towards being cash-based instead of insurance-based because of the overall budgeting, time, stress, and hassle of turning insurance claims. So if you found a lovely chiropractic clinic that doesn’t take insurance, but you want their services… then maybe these options can help you get connected. Chiropractic is an eligible expense under HSAs, FSAs, and Care Credit. However, it is important to check with your specific chiropractor, employer’s FSA administrator, or Care Credit provider to confirm that your chiropractic visits are covered.
By using these payment options, you can make chiropractic care more affordable and accessible! And it’s Hassle Free!
